ASE ‘09 – Meet Market & Share-A-Sale Party
August 16, 2009 by Brandon L. Barnett
Affiliate Summit East ‘09 – Sunday
After the debauchery the night before, I slowly got up and got fresh to def in the suit to head across town, get registered for the conference and attend the affiliate meet market. After catching the train over to the Hilton the first required stop was most definitely coffee, juice and bottled water. The humidity was killing me, it was the hottest part of Summer in Manhattan and I was both soaked and dehydrated.
Standing in line I met Eleah from AKMG and talked shop for a bit as assistants made orders for entire companies. Finally we got up front, I got my much needed caffeine and the bonus of a new sweetheart network contact who sweetened the deal with half an oatmeal cookie.
After spending some time recovering from my hangover in the lounge I made my way up to the meet market. It was refreshing to get various nods and shout-outs from people that were at the party the night before. I also touched bases with some people at the tables who I had met at previous conferences, including Geno Prussakov of AM Navigator. I had been following his blog a bit, so I dropped his passkey for a free copy of his book ‘Online Shopping Through Consumer’s Eyes’ which he was kind enough to autograph for me. He loaded me up with some other loot and told me about some programs he was managing, I made my way around to a few other tables of internet to touch bases with networks I might want to work with and got an increased payout from one I’m already promoting.
After a few hours of linking up different deals and possibilities it was back to the loft in Brooklyn to relax and check-up on business needs. (I make a list each evening for the following days tasks, cant be slacking off completely)
The Share-A-Sale ‘Under the Stars’ party was probably the classiest affair of the trip. They had rented out the entire top floor bar at the Empire Hotel, with an amazing view of the Lincoln Center and uptown Manhattan. There were 2 large open bars, a live DJ throwing down some classic jams and all sorts of amazing food… Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms, Mini Kobe Burgers, Tempura Rock Shrimp. Mmm… I really let loose with the grey goose and tonic, and drank at least a case of Stella Artois. The #WFASE Wicked Fire crew was in full effect, and I was able to really talk shop with a number of guys about scaling my business. It was impressive to see what a few of the guys were pulling on their offers and gain insight on new marketing angles.
Luckily this evening I had friends come up to where I was at and help me get back to the house. I was definitely tossed, and really took advantage of the bar before closing. This party was quite live and I had trouble tearing away from dancing with AM’s and booth babes while my friend’s waited for me. Thanks Dylan & Andy!
